Aging Intervention Medicine
Treating Aging as a Disease
Hello!
Have you ever thought about what you would do with a few extra decades of lhealthy life? What if the last decade of your life isn't spent going from doctor's appointment to doctors appointment with your bag of prescription drugs that gives you side effect on top of side effect? It can be said the field of longevity science is almost there. It should be the goal of anyone hoping for the extra few decades of healthy existence to stay alive for another decade when most of the breakthroughs in science become FDA approved and widely available for the general public.
Recent scientific break throughs have brought to question weather we can prevent any one (or few) of the age related illnesses and diseases we have come to accept as the normal course of the human condition. These debilitating diseases end up taking center stage in our lives and complicating our health care, and even worse, draining our savings and retirement accounts. The majority of us look forward to a slow decline of health during the last decade or so of the human life span until it becomes to much to bare. It is still a question if scientific breakthrough will free us of all these devastating issues.

What are these breakthroughs in medicine?
Relatively recent breakthroughs in medicine that show significant promise in effectively treating some of these end-of-life diseases. Unfortunately this technology is out of the reach of most Americans due to the FDA diligent protection of the overall health of the American people.
Sometimes, however, the regulations, which were codified many, many decades ago are said to be outdated due to advances in both technology and in medicine. Advances in recording scientific and medical data made available to the professionals practicing medicine or experimenting in science render the regulations a bit outdated and in dire need of new legislation.
Experimental Treatments vs. Off-Label Use
AIM does not engage in xperimental medicine or prescribe treatment that are 'experimental' or advocate the use of experimental drugs or substances. There is absolutely no need to. AIM takes advantage of the rapidly expanding body of published science and results of clinical trials which, in large part use FDA approved drugs, some of which are used 'off-label".
The treatments advocated at A.I.M. are well published and supported by scientific and clinical evidence. Despite the community support, actual FDA double-blind placebo type clinical trials for many drugs are virtually non-existent. In many instances this lack of human clinical trials is more a result of a lack of funding, not because of reliability or safety. In fact, it is rather common that many of the top scientist in the field conduct scientific tests on themselves.
On a final note, FDA approved drugs have already been subjected to safety, dosing and efficacy clinical trials and peer reviewed prior to receiving the seal of FDA approval. With the exception of a few well settled supplements with impeccable track records when used as directed. While these drugs utilized by AIM have been used for decades and retain a robust safety and efficacy records, they require the oversight of a professional that understands properly administering drugs and dosing. AIM's Clinical Director, Dr. Ahn, M.D. is a board certified, anesthesiologist, literally an expert in administering and dosing drugs and understanding the synergistic and side effects of drugs and supplements.
